Description

Recycables is the top cables recycler in France.

This joint-venture was created in 2008 between SUEZ & Nexans in order to collect, process and recover cables. Located in Noyelles Godault, it is a model of circular economy as the materials from this process (copper, aluminium, polymers) are then recycled and used to make new cables, keeping the material in loops.

Thanks to innovative technologies, all types of cables can be treated: insulated or sheathed, steel or lead-armoured, thin or wide sections, craps or end-of-life copper or aluminium-based cables.

Added value

  • Treatment of 10 to 12 tons of cables each year.
  • This process provides guarantees security of supply for Nexans.
  • Recycables enables Nexans to save money and reduce CO2 emissions, thanks to the proximity of the site to the cable production location.

Challenges

  • Lack of demand for recovered or recycled materials above virgin material.
