Description

Closing the Loop (CTL) offers closed loop services for workplace hardware that deliver value for the tech industry, their customers and society.
CTL helps turns (organizational) values into appealing results for green IT, today. Our service,’ waste-compensation’ for closed loop IT usage, is adopted by companies and governments – and supported by ITU, GSMA and many others.
It serves as a unique tool for making inclusiveness, waste reduction and a healthier planet relevant and recognizable for every one; by making the devices they have in their hands every day waste-free.

It works like this: when our customer buys/leases a device, we collect and recycle an equivalent amount of electronic waste in countries that lack recycling capacity. Our waste collection is used to make our customer’s new devices waste-neutral. For this, we charge our customer a small fee per device. That fee is used by us to collect e-waste in African countries. Our collection compensates our customer’s new device. It makes it waste-free.

Added value

Our solution makes the devices – phones, laptops and/or tablets – used by every person/colleague symbols of your (company) values.
Our work in Africa reduces waste, creates jobs, saves materials from being lost and helps people to understand the need and opportunity of ‘closing loops’.

Challenges

Our main challenge is helping people understand that circularity is not only about long term, complex and problematic change.
It’s also about acting today in a positive, engaging and tangible way.

Partners

The tech industry (producers, sellers, resellers, financing firms, tack-back, repair, refurbishers; anyone that wants to turn CE into positive action)
And their customers (consumers, business and government)
And legislators (local, national and EU)
